The station consists of 5 tracks and is a through station of the Turin-Milan railway route. Some local trains of the metropolitan railway service in Turin, as well as trains of route 2 between Pinerolo and Chiasso, stop here.
Prior to the 2000s, the railway station of Settimo operated in the logistics sector as well, because it was equipped with a freight terminal equipped with a raised loading dock, located facing Milan.
The company’s intervention was characterized by the lengthening and upgrading of the existing pedestrian underpass that connected Platform 1 to Platform 2, and a further lengthening up to Platform 3, with interventions for functional improvements in compliance with safety standards.
In this case, the intervention project foresaw to provide an access lift from the underpass floor, as well as the building of a stairway to the southwest side. The construction of a shelter and the addition of a Loges route (tactile route) for the visually impaired were carried out on Platform 3.
