Sottopassi ferroviari Milano

Pieve Emanuele e Borgarello (MI)

Pieve Emanuele is distant about 12 km in a straight line and a 16 km drive from the center of Milan. It is located in the area called the “Low Lombardy Plain” and together with the nearby Locate of Triulzi and Lacchiarella, it is the last village in the south of the province itself; the province of Pavia, which is just over 15 kilometers away, comes next. Every 15 minutes, therefore, there is a train to Milan or Pavia, thus confirming the importance of rail traffic for commuters residing in this area. The intervention was characterized by the elimination of 7 existing railroad crossings on the Milan-Pavia and Voghera-Pavia railway lines.

The ever-increasing need for fast road connections does not coincide, in fact, with interruptions due to the presence of railroad crossings; in addition, the elimination of crossroads between different types of road traffic and transport (pedestrians, network of roads and railways) has directly favored achieving the aim of greater safety for all the users and the infrastructures, as well as achieving, in the medium term, a general reduction of management and maintenance costs of the same crossroads.
