Colleparco is one of the newest districts of Teramo in the Abruzzi. The first urbanization of the hillside near the city center dates back to the 1980s, following concessions to numerous building co-operatives, whose buildings still make up most of the neighborhood’s real estate.
The construction of the university center dates back to the late ‘90s, with the establishment of the Faculty of Law first (realized by the D’Adiutorio Enterprise) and subsequently of the two Faculties of Political Science and Communication Sciences.
Concurrently with the construction of the academic offices, the parish church named San Gabriele dell’Addolorato was built, headed by its first parish priest, Don Giovanni Bruni, who made the church an important religious center with a conference room and oratory workshops, and the largest meeting point of the residents.
The Church of St. Gabriele dell’Addolorata is a completely modern church, characterized by a churchyard with a beautiful, wide square. It is made up of a single large circular hall and the presbytery with modern refined furnishings. Several premises used for intense parish activities were coupled with the Church. Outside, not far from the building, is an artistic metal trellis that serves as a bell tower housing two bells.
