The Piazza Cinque Giornate building was built in the 1940s and is covered in travertine on the part facing the square and its sides. Although not an architectural masterpiece, the building is considered a valuable vintage “document”. The main problem in the restoration work was the replacement of its original fixtures.
The large openings, framed by thick travertine slabs, had a kind of wooden sliding fixture inside, protected by window shutters and roller shutters.
The fixtures, larger than normal, were one of the main concerns of the Inail technicians. On the one hand, in fact, it was necessary to save the shape of the building and not spoil it with windows having a design other than the original one.
On the other hand, it was unacceptable to make the same wooden windows as the pre-existing ones because they would not guarantee safety in their handling, thermal-acoustic comfort and a long life.
Hence the idea of choosing an electro-painted aluminum profile of the same color as the previous fixtures, with similar shapes and sizes, but with better handling, guaranteed by a horizontal multi-closure pivot system.
