Teatro Carlo Goldoni

Corinaldo (AN)

The Corinaldo Theatre was built by enlarging a previous theatre of the ‘700 and it is one of the first theatres built in the Marches after the Unity of Italy.

The transformations foreseen concerned the entrance on the lobby area, the unilateral and inadequate escape routes, the reduced consistency of the dressing rooms, the quite elementary or even absent facilities, the minimal central orchestra pit. The foyer was set in the current entrance of the theatre. The ceilings were pierced up to the under roof and a staircase was built to directly connect the various levels of tiers. The stage was brought back to its original position.

This floor was made of lamella wood in larch over solid screed, and is three steps above the hall, aligned towards the orchestra at the stage level, as the lower area for the orchestra pit was covered so as to create an open space for a better visual continuity . All the stage equipment was made in the backstage where dressing rooms and green rooms could be found. Furthermore, the waiting rooms for the orchestra members on the backside beneath the stage were also intended as an escape route for the audience in the seating area. The heating system was placed on the underground floor.
