La Collegiata

Amandola (FM)

The intervention focused on the works related to the restoration and conservation of the former church named La Collegiate Theater of Amandola, which had been damaged by the 1997 earthquake.

The intervention had the aim of subsequently housing a center for tourism-related services.

The complex was made up of three buildings having very different sizes, with an extremely damaged and partially collapsed timber roof structure.

The work on the external shape of the building, its volumes and surfaces consisted in a complete refurbishment and renovation of the wooden roof slabs made of chestnut trusses and beams with terracotta tiling and a waterproof covering of curved roof tiles; improvement of the earthquake resistance of all the vertical load-bearing walls of the building; complete consolidation and refurbishment of interior screeds, staircases and floors with handmade type terracotta tiles; substitution of all the beams decayed and damaged by the earthquake with refurbishment of all the internal and external fixtures; complete refurbishment and restoration of the splendid camorcanna vault of the second floor, built in the early eighteenth century, where the old church was once built, with the same material as the existing one.
