Since 1914, more than 100 arti- culated sections have been con structed, serving as warehouses, with barrel vaults ,for a total area of 40,000 m².
A lift system allowed to reach the iron level of the station. According to the taste of time, the architectural style invokes liberty, with deco influences.
The articulated warehouse system was a sort of free port.
The articulated warehouses have remained owned by the State Railways, but their management, under a thirty year contract, has been entrusted to the company Grandi Stazioni S.p.A.
The process, with the help of the JOS cleaning system, and based on a low pressure rotary vortex process, presents a true innovation in cleaning techniques. The centrifugal thrust results in the output of a cleaning mixture made up of water, air and aggregates which are driven on the surface to be treated according to helical trajectories. This strengthens the cleansing action that extends over the entire impact surface, while maintaining the aging patina wi- thout affecting the plaster.
